§ 42-194. RESERVED.
§ 42-195. VEHICLE ENTERING STOP INTERSECTION.
   Except when directed by a police officer or traffic control signal, every driver of a vehicle approaching a stop intersection, indicated by a stop sign, shall stop before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection. If there is no crosswalk, the driver shall stop at a clearly marked stop line before entering the intersection. If there is no marked stop line, then the driver shall stop at the point nearest the intersecting road where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on an intersecting roadway before entering the intersection. A driver after having stopped shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle which has entered the intersection from another highway or road, or which is approaching so close as to constitute an immediate hazard; but the driver having so yielded may then proceed, and the driver of all other vehicles approaching the intersection shall yield the right-of-way to the vehicle so proceeding.
(Prior Code, § 42-195)
Statutory reference:
   Yield intersections, see 47 O.S. § 11-403(B)
§ 42-196. VEHICLE ENTERING YIELD INTERSECTION.
   The driver of a vehicle approaching a yield sign shall, in observance to such sign, slow down to a speed reasonable for the existing condition or shall stop if necessary and shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian legally crossing the roadway on which he or she is driving and to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another road so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard. The driver having so yielded may then proceed, and drivers of all other vehicles approaching the intersection shall yield to the vehicle so proceeding. A driver who enters a yield intersection without stopping and has or causes a collision with a pedestrian at a crosswalk or a vehicle in the intersection shall prima facie be considered not to have yielded as required herein. The provisions of this section shall not release the drivers of other vehicles approaching the intersection at such a distance as not to constitute an immediate hazard from the duty to drive with due care to avoid a collision. The driver of a vehicle approaching a yield sign, if required for safety to stop, shall stop before entering the crosswalk of the near side of the intersection before entering the intersection; if there is no crosswalk, the driver shall stop at a clearly marked stop line or, if there is not a stop line, then at the point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway.
(Prior Code, § 42-196)
Statutory reference:
   Yield intersections, see 47 O.S. § 11-403(C)
§ 42-197. VEHICLE ENTERING HIGHWAY FROM PRIVATE ROAD OR DRIVEWAY.
   The driver of the vehicle about to enter, leave, or cross a highway from or into a private road or driveway shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching on the highway.
(Prior Code, § 42-197)
Statutory reference:
   Vehicles entering highway, see 47 O.S. § 11-404
§ 42-198. VEHICLES ENTERING TRAFFIC FROM PARKING.
   Any vehicle attempting to reenter traffic while parked at the curb shall yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic in the street approaching from the rear. The parked vehicle shall proceed into the line of traffic only after the driver has given the appropriate signal which indicates his or her intention of turning from the curb and into the line of traffic. The vehicle shall in no event enter the line of traffic until the driver has ascertained that no hazard exists.
(Prior Code, § 42-198)
§ 42-199. EMERGING FROM ALLEY, DRIVEWAY, OR BUILDING.
   The driver of a vehicle emerging from an alley, driveway, or building shall stop such vehicle immediately prior to driving onto a sidewalk or onto the sidewalk area extending across any alleyway or driveway, and shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian as may be necessary to avoid collision, and upon entering the roadway, shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching on the roadway.
(Prior Code, § 42-199)
Statutory reference:
   Emerging from alley and the like, see 47 O.S. § 11-704
§ 42-200. STOP WHEN TRAFFIC OBSTRUCTED.
   No driver shall enter an intersection or a marked crosswalk unless there is sufficient space on the other side of the intersection or crosswalk to accommodate the vehicle he or she is operating without obstructing the passage of other vehicles or pedestrians, notwithstanding any traffic control signal indication to proceed.
(Prior Code, § 42-200)
§ 42-201. OBEDIENCE TO SIGNAL INDICATING APPROACH OF TRAIN.
   (A)   Whenever any person driving a vehicle approaches a railroad grade crossing under any of the circumstances stated in this section, the driver of such vehicle shall stop within 50 feet but not less than 15 feet from the nearest rail of such railroad, and shall not proceed until he or she can do so safely. The foregoing requirements shall apply when:
      (1)   A clearly visible electric or mechanical signal device gives warning of the immediate approach of a railroad train;
      (2)   A crossing gate is lowered or when a human flag person gives or continues to give a signal of the approach or passage of a railroad train;
      (3)   A railroad train approaching within approximately 1,500 feet of the highway crossing emits a signal audible from such distance and such railroad train, by reason of its speed or nearness to such crossing, is an immediate hazard;
      (4)   An approaching railroad train is plainly visible and is in hazardous proximity to such crossing; or
      (5)   The tracks at the crossing are not clear.
   (B)   No person shall drive any vehicle through, around, or under any crossing gate or barrier at a railroad crossing while such gate or barrier is closed or is being opened or closed, or fail to obey the directions of a law enforcement officer at the crossing.
   (C)   The operator of any class A, B, or C commercial vehicle not required to stop at all railroad crossings, as prescribed in 47 O.S. § 11-702, shall slow down and check that the tracks are clear of an approaching train.
