§ 6-2-2 OPEN SPACE ALLIANCE.
   (A)   The Council declares its intention of maintaining and improving the Municipal Open Space asset, and recognizes that many people in the community have a special interest in the preservation of this asset, and that some of them have together formed a corporation called the “Open Space Alliance.”
   (B)   Membership in the Open Space Alliance is open to everyone and special classifications have been prepared so that membership may be extended to develop an interest and understanding of the purposes of the Alliance.
   (C)   The Council further finds that the purposes for which the Alliance is formed are to promote public awareness and conservation of open space areas, and to educate the public about the natural, historic, cultural, educational and recreational aspects of open spaces. The Alliance will take its direction from the Open Space Division of the Parks and General Services Department.
   (D)   The Council further finds that these purposes of the Open Space Alliance are consistent and harmonious with the program for development and preservation of the Open Space System, managed by the city, and that the public will be served by coordinating and advancing these common purposes together.
   (E)   The Mayor is requested to utilize the services of the Alliance consistent with the municipal purposes of the Open Space System, and to cooperate with the Alliance in all lawful ways to achieve the maximum benefits of such association.
   (F)   That the city recognizes the Open Space Alliance as the designated volunteer organization to promote the appreciation, conservation, and recreational values of open space.
   (G)   The Mayor is authorized to enter into those agreements that are deemed necessary with the Alliance, defining the respective responsibilities and privileges in order to make the efforts of both the Alliance and the city effective.
