(A) An Alternative Pilot Suspension Program shall be established in partnership with Manzano High School by offering suspended students the option of participating in a community service program. This program is designed to create an out of school suspension program that is both punitive and proactive and will allow students the opportunity to more realistically view work environments and instill a sense of responsibility, accountability and self worth.
(B) Funds in the amount of $6,000 are hereby appropriated from the Unreserved Fund Balance of the General Fund (Fund 110) to the Contract Services Program of the Department of Family and Community Services in Fiscal Year 1997 for the purpose of funding a contract with Albuquerque Public Schools for an Alternative Pilot Suspension Program at Manzano High School.
