(A) The Fire Chief shall establish the requirements for membership in the Fire Reserve Corps. These requirements include but are not limited to physical, mental, aptitude, personality inventory and character standards, and mandatory training for a minimum of 175 hours in all fields of firefighting and activity in accordance with the Albuquerque Fire Department Training Standards, or, by decision of the Fire Chief, better or higher standards. It shall be the duty of the Chief of the Fire Reserve Corps to provide such training for such persons and also any further training for members which he may deem to be necessary or desirable.
(B) The Chief of the Fire Reserve Corps shall insure physical fitness of persons who are trainees or members of the Fire Reserve Corps.
(C) Whenever all requirements to qualify as a member have been met, a certification in writing must be signed by the prospective member. Then that person may be appointed and sworn in as a member by the Fire Chief. Each member shall maintain and keep for his expedient use every item which shall have been issued. Members or trainees will not wear, display, or carry any such item without written permission from the Chief of the Fire Reserve Corps.
(D) The Chief of the Fire Reserve Corps may terminate any member or trainee at any time by written notification to such member or trainee. Any member of trainee may resign from the Fire Reserve Corps at any time by written notification to the Chief of the Fire Reserve Corps. Any member who resigns or is terminated shall surrender to the city all property of the city which has been issued to such person.
