Any person who violates a provision of this article shall be deemed guilty of a petty misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be subject to the penalty provisions set forth in § 1-1-99 ROA 1994. Every violation of this article shall be a separate misdemeanor. Every day this article is violated shall be considered a separate offense. Upon receipt of a citation, the person cited must appear in court.
The Owners of less common and Permissible Exotic or Wild Animals are responsible for knowing and meeting the specific needs of the Animals in their care. Ignorance of these needs will not be a defense against prosecution for failure to provide proper care, maintenance and housing.
