§ 8-6-19 LAMP OR FLAG ON PROJECTING LOAD.
   (A)   It shall be unlawful to drive or permit to be driven any vehicle whenever the load upon such vehicle extends to the rear four feet or more beyond the bed or body of such vehicle, unless there shall be displayed at the extreme rear end of the load, at the time specified in § 8-6-7, a red light or lantern plainly visible from a distance of at least 500 feet to the sides and rear. The red light or lantern required under this section shall be in addition to the red rear light required upon every vehicle. At any other time there shall be displayed at the extreme rear end of such load a bright colored flag or cloth not less than 100 square inches and so hung that the entire area is visible to the driver of a vehicle approaching from the rear.
   (B)   When any mechanical device, whether a temporary or permanent part of the vehicle, extends beyond the front bumpers thereof, the extreme front corners of such projection shall, at the times specified in § 8-6-7, be indicated by amber lights or lanterns visible from a distance of at least 500 feet to the sides and front. At any other time there shall be displayed at the extreme front end of such load a bright colored flag or cloth not less than 100 square inches and so hung that the entire area is visible to the driver of a vehicle approaching from the opposite direction.
