Any authorized emergency vehicle being used in an official capacity may stand or park irrespective of the provisions of this title, provided a lighted lamp displaying a red light visible under normal atmospheric conditions from a distance of 500 feet from the vehicle in all directions is displayed during such standing or parking, and further, that such standing or parking shall not be for a period of longer than necessary.
