The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident, if the accident results in death, injury or damage to any vehicle or property in apparent extent of $100 or more shall immediately, by the quickest means of communication, give notice of such accident to the Police Department. The duty to report to the Police Department is additional to and independent of the duty to stop and identify himself and to render aid as required under §§ 8-2-11-1 et seq.
