The driver of a vehicle emerging from an alley, a driveway, a private road, a building or open land shall stop such vehicle immediately prior to driving either onto the sidewalk or any sidewalk area, yielding the right-of-way to any pedestrian as may be necessary to avoid collision, and before and upon entering the roadway shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles, bicycles or animals approaching on the roadway.
