(A) The disposition of traffic citations issued by the city to an alleged violator of any provision of this Traffic Code or the motor vehicle laws of this state shall be as follows:
(1) Original or electronic original to Metropolitan Court.
(2) Copy to the Driver's License Branch of the Motor Vehicle Department of the State of New Mexico.
(3) Copy to the Central Records Section of the Police Department.
(4) Copy to the violator.
(B) It shall be unlawful and official misconduct for any member of the Police Department, or other officer or public employee, to dispose of, alter, or deface a traffic citation or any copy thereof or the record of the issuance or disposition of any traffic citation, complaint, or warrant, in a manner other than as required in this section, or as otherwise authorized by law.
