§ 6-8-5-5 ASSESSING ORDINANCE.
   The Bond Attorney will prepare the Assessing Ordinance for the SAD with the assistance of the Consulting Engineer, the SAD Engineer and the Department of Finance and Administrative Services. After review of the Assessing Ordinance by the City Legal Department, the Consulting Engineer and the SAD Engineer will be responsible for introduction and approval of the assessing ordinance by the City Council. The assessing ordinance ratifies the proceedings taken in the creation of the SAD, provides for payment of the costs and expenses of the improvements, provides for filing a claim of lien in the office of the County Clerk, assesses the cost of the improvements against the tracts and parcels of property benefited by the improvements and establishes a penalty for delinquent payments. Terms of assessments may vary in different SADs depending on circumstances, but shall not exceed 20 years in duration.
