§ 253.01 ESTABLISHMENT; PURPOSE.
   There is hereby established an Economic Development Department, a department of the city, pursuant to the Council's authority set forth in Article VI, Section 1, of the City Charter. The purpose of the Economic Development Department is to oversee all aspects of the city’s business attraction and retention program, focusing on modern needs and realities of the community.

§ 253.02 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT; COMPOSITION.
   There is hereby established the position of Director of Economic Development. The Director of Economic Development shall be appointed by the Mayor pursuant to Article V, Section 5 of the City Charter. The Director of Economic Development shall report directly to the Mayor and shall perform such duties as are required by the Mayor pursuant to the position’s job description on file in the Human Resources Department. The Director of Economic Development shall be responsible for implementing all aspects of the city’s business attraction and retention program including the proactive marketing of the city's office, industrial and retail areas and serving as the ombudsman to the business community.
