§ 248.01 CITY ENGINEER; COMPOSITION OF DEPARTMENT.
   Pursuant to Article VI, § 7, of the City Charter, the head of the Engineering Department shall be the City Engineer. In addition to the City Engineer, the Engineering Department may consist of the following full-time positions and are not to exceed the listed number of positions:
   (a)   Assistant City Engineer(s);
   (b)   Assistant(s) to the Engineer;
   (c)   Department head Secretary; and
   (d)   Secretary.

§ 248.02 DUTIES OF CITY ENGINEER; APPOINTMENT; QUALIFICATIONS.
   The City Engineer shall be the head of the Engineering Department and shall be appointed by the Mayor as provided in Article V, § 5(c), of the City Charter. The City Engineer shall serve the Mayor, Council, the administrative departments of the city and city officials, in connection with all civil engineering matters of the city. The City Engineer shall perform all duties now or hereafter imposed upon city engineers under the laws of the state and such other duties as prescribed by the ordinance(s) of Council. No person shall act as the City Engineer unless he or she is duly registered as a professional engineer in civil engineering in the state. The City Engineer shall report to the Public Works Commissioner.

§ 248.03 ASSISTANT CITY ENGINEER(S).
   (a)   There is hereby established the position of Assistant City Engineer(s), which position(s) may be filled by approval of the Mayor.
   (b)   The Assistant City Engineer(s) shall work under and be subject to the supervision of the City Engineer and shall perform such duties as may be delegated to him or her by the City Engineer.
   (c)   No person shall act as an Assistant City Engineer unless he or she is duly registered as a professional engineer in civil engineering in the state within one year of appointment as an Assistant City Engineer.

§ 248.04 PROJECT ENGINEER(S).
   (a)   There is hereby established the position of Project Engineer(s), which position(s) shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor pursuant to Article V, § 5(b), of the City Charter.
   (b)   The Project Engineer(s) shall work under and be subject to the supervision of the City Engineer and shall perform such duties as may be delegated to him or her by the City Engineer.
   (c)   No person shall act as a Project Engineer unless he or she is duly registered as a professional engineer in civil engineering in the state within one year of appointment as a Project Engineer for the city.
§ 248.05 ASSISTANT(S) TO THE ENGINEER.
   (a)   There is hereby established the position of Assistant(s) to the City Engineer, which position(s) shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor pursuant to Article V, § 5(b), of the City Charter.
