There is in the County an Office of Emergency Services, hereafter in this Article referred to as the Office, under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer. All references in this Code or the San Diego County Code of Regulatory Ordinances to the Office of Disaster Preparedness shall be deemed to refer to the Office of Emergency Services.

There is in the County and in the Office a position of Director of the Office of Emergency Services, hereafter in this Article referred to as the Director. All references in this Code or the San Diego County Code of Regulatory Ordinances to the Director of the Office of Disaster Preparedness shall be deemed to refer to the Director of the Office of Emergency Services. Such position shall be in the Unclassified Service of the County and shall be filled by appointment by the Chief Administrative Officer in accordance with the County Charter, Rules of the Civil Service Commission and County ordinances.

The Director shall act under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer and shall exercise general supervision of all functions of the Office and shall comply with all local, state and federal laws, regulations, and directives. Director shall perform all functions authorized to be performed by the Director of the Office of Emergency Services in Sections 31.101-31.104 of the San Diego County Code of Regulatory Ordinances.
