For the purpose of this chapter, the following words shall have the following definitions:
BULK RUBBISH: Large items such as a chair, couch, stove, hot water heater, mattress, appliance, etc., which cannot be placed in a required suitable container.
BUNDLED TREE LIMBS: Tree limbs cut in length to no longer than three feet (3') and tied in bundles with a diameter no larger than eighteen inches (18"), which are not placed in a suitable container for landscape waste.
GARBAGE: Wastes resulting from the wrapping, handling, storage, preparation, cooking and consumption of food of all kinds.
LANDSCAPE WASTE: Grass, shrubbery, cuttings, leaves or other material resulting from the care of lawns, shrubbery, weeds, vines or trees.
RUBBISH: Such matter as ashes, metalware, broken glass, crockery, dirt, sweepings, dead animals, boxes, wood, tin cans, bottles, or litter of any kind, that can be put in required suitable containers, but not "landscape waste" as defined herein. (Ord. 759, 5-13-1992)
It is hereby required that all residents have garbage and refusal collection services. Subject to the provisions of this chapter and except as otherwise by ordinance provided for, the Village shall provide for the collection and disposal of residential "garbage", "rubbish", "bulk rubbish", "bundled tree limbs" and "landscape waste", as above defined, by contract with a scavenger or disposal service. The schedule shall be published in a local newspaper or by individual notice with monthly billings. (Ord. 1837, 4-11-2018)
A. Weekly Collection: Garbage and rubbish shall be collected each week on the collection day established by contract with the scavenger or disposal service, except when the collection day falls on a holiday, or when there is any holiday in that week preceding the collection day, in either of which events the garbage and rubbish shall be collected one day later in that week.
B. Notice Of Change: There shall be no change in the day of collection except upon ten (10) days' written notification by the scavenger to the Village and to each owner, occupant or lessee receiving garbage disposal service under this chapter and any contract in implementation thereof.
