(A) There is hereby adopted, for the purpose of prescribing regulations and standards governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or explosion, the 2017 Ohio Fire Code (also referred to as the Fire Prevention Code), and any and all supplements, modifications, amendments, and subsequent Ohio Fire Codes as may be enacted.
(B) The Fire Chief shall file with the Clerk of Council a copy of the Ohio Fire Code, supplements, amendments, and which is hereby incorporated as a part of these Codified Ordinances as fully as if rewritten herein.
(C) The Clerk of Council shall keep complete copies of such Code on file for inspection by the public and shall make copies available for distribution to the public, at cost, with brief summaries of any amendments thereto or deletions therefrom. A copy shall be filed with the County Law Library by the Clerk. A copy shall also be filed with the County Public Library by the Clerk.

(A) The Fire Prevention Code shall be enforced by the Bureau of Fire Prevention, which is hereby established in the Fire Department of the City and which shall be operated under the supervision of the Chief of the Fire Department.
(B) The Chief may designate such members of the Fire Department as inspectors, otherwise known as Code Officials, as are from time to time necessary.
(C) A report of the Bureau of Fire Prevention shall be made annually and transmitted to the Mayor. It shall contain all proceedings under this Fire Prevention Code, with such statistics as the Fire Chief may wish to include therein. The Chief shall also recommend any amendments to this Fire Prevention Code which, in his judgment, are desirable.

(a) For purposes of this section a “bonfire” is an open burning fire that is used for cooking food for human consumption, pleasure, religious, ceremonial, warmth, recreational or similar purposes that is fueled by clean seasoned firewood or its equivalent, is not used for waste disposal, and has a total fuel area greater than three feet in diameter or two feet in height and no more than five feet in height and five feet in width; and,
(b) No person shall cause a bonfire and/or ceremonial fire to be conducted in a manner prohibited by the Ohio Fire Code, as adopted in this chapter, the Ohio Administrative Code and any rules and regulations of the EPA or Ohio EPA; and,
(c) Any person who causes a bonfire to be conducted shall, ten days prior thereto, notify the Ohio EPA, as required by Rule 1301:7-7-01 of the Administrative Code, and apply for a permit through the Lima Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau; and,
(d) Whoever violates division (c) of this section by failing to obtain a permit from the Fire Prevention Bureau is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.
