   FIGURE 11-2-2:A
   Building Frontage
Building frontage shall mean the horizontal width of a building fronting on a street and measured between lines perpendicular to the street or perpendicular to the cord line of a curved street.

   Store Frontage
 
Store frontage shall mean the length of any wall of a store which fronts a street, customer parking area or customer entrance, but not including exterior walls of service and loading areas.

   Wall Sign Requirements
 
   
All wall signs shall not be higher than the facia or parapet line of the building, canopy or marquee to which they are attached. Except for wall signs which are completely flush with the wall surface, the minimum clearance below wall signs shall be ten feet (10') above any pedestrian walkway, fifteen feet (15') above any driveway or road, nor below the soffit line of any canopy or marquee. Wall signs located over landscaping features shall be three feet (3') minimum above the grade level below said sign.

   Clear Vision Requirements
 
No sign which obstructs sight lines at elevations between eighteen inches (18") and six feet (6') above the roadway shall be placed or permitted to remain on any corner lot within the triangular area formed by the street property corner lines connecting them at points fifty feet (50') from the intersection of the street lines, or in the case of a rounded corner, from the intersection of the street property lines extended. The same sight line limitations regarding height shall apply on any interior lot within the triangular area formed by the street property line and the edge of the driveway and the line connecting them at points ten feet (10') from the intersection of the property line and the driveway.

   Residential Sign Setbacks
 
Permitted signs may be located in any required yard, but shall not be less than eight feet (8') from any lot line adjacent to any street, nor less than five feet (5') from any other lot line.

One single or double face freestanding unilluminated sign per lot, which shall meet the following standards: the surface area of the sign shall not exceed twelve (12) square feet per face; the sign shall be not more than eight feet (8') high; and the sign shall be removed within ten (10) days following occupancy of the building.

   Residential Identification Sign
 
One single or double face freestanding sign or one wall sign per building frontage per building, either of which may be illuminated, for each permitted public use or similar institutional building. Such signs shall be solely for the purpose of displaying the name of the institution or its activities or services, and shall meet the following standards: the surface area of such signs shall not be greater than twenty five (25) square feet per sign face; and the height of a freestanding sign shall not be higher than ten feet (10').

   Residential Landscaped Subdivision Identification Sign
 
One single or double face unilluminated freestanding sign at each street entrance to a subdivision for the sole purpose of displaying the name of the subdivision, and which shall meet the following standards: the surface area of such signs shall not be greater than twelve (12) square feet per face; and the height of such sign shall not be higher than six feet (6') above the ground at the base of the sign, nor higher than ten feet (10') above the edge of the street pavement nearest the sign, whichever is less.

One freestanding identification sign only shall be permitted per lot bordering the U.S. Interstate 94 (Tri-State Tollway) R.O.W. and the Illinois Route 176 (Rockland Road) R.O.W. Such signs may be illuminated and shall meet the following standards: the signs, shall not exceed forty eight (48) square feet for single face signs, nor a cumulative total of ninety six (96) square feet for double or multiple face signs; and the sign shall not be higher than eighteen feet (18') nor less than ten feet (10') high.

One sign only shall be permitted per lot and may be illuminated and shall meet the following standards: the surface area of a single face sign shall not exceed forty-eight (48) square feet, or a cumulative total of ninety-six (96) square feet for double or multiple face signs; such signs shall not be higher than ten feet (10') above the ground at the base of the sign, nor fifteen feet (15') above the level of the street or driveway nearest the sign, whichever is less; and such signs shall not have any face greater than ten feet (10') in width.

If the shopping center fronts on more than one public street, then one sign may be permitted on each street, but not more than two (2) signs in total. These signs may be illuminated and shall meet the following standards: the surface area of a single sign on a lot shall not exceed ninety six (96) square feet per face nor more than a cumulative total of one hundred ninety two (192) square feet for double or multiple face signs. If two (2) signs are provided, the surface area of any sign shall not exceed forty eight (48) square feet per sign face nor more than a cumulative total of ninety six (96) square feet for double or multiple face signs; and such signs shall not be higher than eighteen feet (18') nor less than ten feet (10') above the level of the street nearest the sign.

Monument Sign
 
One single, double or multiple face freestanding sign at each street entrance to a subdivision for the sole purpose of displaying the name of the subdivision. The sign may be illuminated and shall meet the following standards: the surface area of any single face sign shall not exceed ninety six (96) square feet, or one hundred ninety two (192) square feet of cumulative total surface area for any double or multiple face sign; and such signs shall not exceed eighteen feet (18') in height above the grade of the street or driveway closest to the sign.

   Office and Industrial Freestanding Toll
   Road Identification Sign
 
One single or double face sign per forty (40) acre single use site, which may be illuminated and which shall meet the following standards: the surface area of any face shall not exceed four hundred fifty (450) square feet; such signs shall not exceed fifteen feet (15') in height above the level of the adjacent toll road pavement nearest to the sign; toll road identification signs shall meet the following setbacks: three hundred feet (300') from any residential use district; twenty five feet (25') from any public street or road right of way other than the toll road; no less than five feet (5') or no greater than one hundred feet (100') from the toll road right of way; and one hundred feet (100') from any other property line. Toll road identification signs shall be at least one thousand two hundred feet (1,200') away from any other toll road identification sign or billboard along the same side of the toll road.

   Billboards
 
Billboards shall be permitted in the office and industrial use districts on unimproved lots only and shall comply with all the following standards: not more than one single face sign for a lot of six hundred feet (600') of frontage or less and one additional single face sign for each six hundred feet (600') of additional frontage; single faced signs shall be at least six hundred feet (600') from any other billboard. Back- to-back double face signs shall be at least one thousand two hundred feet (1,200') from any other billboard; billboards shall be limited to twenty five feet (25') in maximum height and length; and billboards shall be limited to two hundred eighty four (284) square feet in surface area per face.
