11-6-3-7: SHOPPING CENTER SIGNS:
For shopping centers only, which have an aggregate floor area of ten thousand (10,000) square feet or more, the following signs are permitted in addition to signs otherwise allowed in a business use district:
   A.   Entrance or Exit Monument Signs: One freestanding single or double face sign at each driveway entrance or exit, which may be illuminated, and which shall meet the following standards (see Figure 11-6-3-7:A, set out in Section 11-9-3):
      1.   Surface Area: The surface area of any sign shall not exceed eight (8) square feet per face; and
      2.   Height: Such signs shall not be higher than six feet (6') above the level of the street or driveway nearest the sign.
   B.   Monument Sign - Shopping Center: If the shopping center fronts on more than one public street, then one sign may be permitted on each street, but not more than two (2) signs in total. These signs may be illuminated and shall meet the following standards (see Figure 11-6-3-7:B, set out in Section 11-9-3 ):
      1.   Frontage: Such signs may front on any adjacent street, which provides direct ingress or egress to the shopping center;
      2.   Surface Area: The surface area of a single sign on a lot shall not exceed ninety six (96) square feet per face or more than a cumulative total of one hundred ninety two (192) square feet for double or multiple face signs. If two (2) signs are provided, the surface area of any sign shall not exceed forty eight (48) square feet per sign face or more than a cumulative total of ninety six (96) square feet for double or multiple face signs; and
      3.   Height: Such signs shall not be higher than eighteen feet (18') above the nearest street.
   C.   Monument Sign Out Lot: One sign shall be permitted on any “out lot”, which is both contiguous to the shopping center and contains at least twenty thousand (20,000) square feet of land area. Such signs may be illuminated and shall meet the same standards for monument signs set forth in Section 11-6-3-4 . (Ord. 91-06, 8-28-91; amd. Ord. 2022-O-21, 10-26-2022)
