(a) Appointment of Members. There shall be created within the Village Police Department an Auxiliary Police Unit, the members of which shall be appointed by the Mayor, to provide a class of trained police personnel within the Village.
(b) Term of Service. Auxiliary Police Officers shall serve so long as the Mayor may direct, or until a resignation submitted by such members shall be accepted by the Mayor.
(c) Qualifications of Members. The members shall have such qualifications and other requirements as provided by the rules and regulations provided for in subsection (e) below.
(d) Control of Unit. The Chief of Police shall be the commanding officer of the Auxiliary Police Unit and shall have control of the assignment, training, stationing, and the direction of work of such unit. The Auxiliary Police Unit will have all police powers, but shall perform only such police duties as assigned by the Chief of Police, and shall act only when in the prescribed uniform or portion of uniform. The Chief of Police shall prescribe the time and place such uniform or portion thereof shall be worn. Such Auxiliary members shall obey the chain of command of the Police Department and shall take orders from all regular appointed members thereof.
(e) Rules and Regulations. The Mayor shall prescribe the rules and regulations for the organization, administration, conduct and control of the Auxiliary Police Unit.
(f) Uniform. The Mayor is authorized to prescribe, by the rules and regulations, the type of uniform or part thereof which shall be worn by members of the Auxiliary Police Unit.
(g) Service on Voluntary Basis: Compensation.
(1) All services performed by Auxiliary Policemen shall be on a voluntary basis and within the Village.
(2) Auxiliary Policemen shall be paid one dollar ($1.00) annually.
(h) Eligibility for Membership. Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit are not eligible for membership in the Police Relief and Pension Fund, or other benefits provided Police Officers or Employees of the Village.
(1) Nonliability. This section is declared by the Council as an exercise by the Village of its police powers for the protection of public peace, health, property, safety, and general welfare, and neither the Village, nor agent or representative of the Village, an officer appointed under the provisions of this section, or any individual, firm, partnership, corporation, or the receiver or trustees or any other agent thereof, who in good faith, executes any executive order, rule or regulation promulgated pursuant to the provisions of this section shall be liable for injury or damage sustained to person or property as the direct or proximate result of such action.

(a) Property which has been lost, abandoned, stolen or lawfully seized or forfeited, and which is in the custody of the Golf Manor Police Department shall be kept safely pending the time it is no longer needed as evidence, and disposed of pursuant to this section.
(b) The Police Department shall make a reasonable effort to locate the persons entitled to possession of the property in its custody, and to notify them when and where it may be claimed. In the absence of evidence identifying persons entitled to possession, it is sufficient notice to advertise in a newspaper of general circulation in the county, briefly describing the nature of the property in custody and inviting persons to view and establish their right to it.
(c) A person loses any right he may have to possession of property:
(1) Which was the subject, or was used in a conspiracy or attempt to commit, or the commission of an offense other than a traffic offense, and such person is a conspirator, accomplice, or offender with respect to the offense; or
(2) When, in light of the nature of the property or the circumstances of such person, it is unlawful for him to acquire or possess it.

(d) If, after notification to the party entitled to possession of the property, or advertisement in a newspaper of general circulation in the County as provided by subsection (b) hereof, the property remains unclaimed for a period of ninety days, or is forfeited, the property shall be sold, upon written authorization by the Mayor, which sale shall be made by the Chief of Police, or a licensed auctioneer at public auction, after giving due notice of the auction by advertisement, published once a week for three successive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation in the County. The proceeds from such sale shall be deposited to the Police Department Trust Fund and administered in accordance with the procedures for such Fund.

(e) This section is not intended to apply to the collection, storage, or disposal of abandoned junk motor vehicles, drugs, firearms, dangerous ordnances or obscene material.

The provisions of Ohio R.C. 737.15 which require a residency for the Village Marshall (Chief of Police) are hereby waived. As a result, the Mayor may proceed as deemed appropriate to interview appropriate candidates for recommendation and with the advise and consent of Council pursuant to statute. Such Chief of Police will not be required to be a resident at the time of application nor at the time of appointment.
