2-105.5: RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities of the Commission shall include:
   A.   Promulgation of rules and regulations as necessary for the conduct of its business.
   B.   Review of criteria for the identification of significant historic, architectural, and cultural landmarks and for the delineation of historic districts.
   C.   Review existing surveys of significant historic, architectural and cultural landmarks and historic districts within the City and periodically update the survey.
   D.   Recommending to the City Council the designation of identified structures or resources as landmarks and historic districts.
   E.   Acceptance on behalf of the City of the donation of facade easements and development rights; the making of recommendations to the City Council concerning the acquisition of facade easements or other interests in real property as necessary to carry out the purposes of this chapter.
   F.   Increasing public awareness of the value of historic, cultural and architectural preservation by developing and participating in public education programs.
   G.   Making recommendations to the City Council concerning the utilization of state, federal or private funds to promote the preservation of landmarks and historic districts within the City, and recommending programs and projects for the revitalization/redevelopment of buildings within the City to improve the aesthetics of buildings to further enhance the economic base of the community.
   H.   Recommending acquisition of a landmark structure by the City where its preservation is essential to the purposes of this chapter and where private preservation is not feasible.
   I.   Approval or disapproval of applications for certificates of appropriateness pursuant to this chapter. (Ord. 21-908, 5-24-2021)
