5-10: AMENDMENTS TO THE 2018 INTERNATIONAL MECHANICAL CODE:
   A.    The following provisions of the International Mechanical Code 2018 edition as published by the International Code Council, Inc., are hereby amended as follows:
   CHAPTER 1. ADMINISTRATION. This chapter is DELETED in its entirety.
      For the administration of this code, see sections 5-5 thru 5-7 and the 2018 International Building Code and amendments.
   CHAPTER 3 GENERAL REGULATIONS
   SECTION 303 EQUIPMENT AND APPLIANCE LOCATION
      Section 303.3 Prohibited locations. ADD new item number to the subsection as follows:
         6.   Any room operating under negative pressure unless the appliances are listed for that environment and are not natural draft vented.
      ADD new Section 303.7.1 Liquid petroleum gas (LPG) appliances.
         Liquid petroleum gas (LPG) gas-fired appliances shall not be installed in an attic, crawl space or pit.
   SECTION 304 INSTALLATION
      Section 304.3 Elevation of ignition sources. ADD Exception 2 which reads as follows:
         Exception 2: Clothes dryers installed in private garages.
   SECTION 306 ACCESS AND SERVICE SPACE
      Section 306.5 Equipment and appliances on roofs or elevated structures. ADD new item 11 to read as follows:
         11.   When access is through a roof hatch or access door, the minimum clear access opening dimension shall not be less than 22 inches by 30 inches (559MM by 762 MM).
   SECTION 307 CONDENSATE DISPOSAL
      Section 307.2.1 Condensate disposal. This section is REVISED by adding the following the end of the paragraph:
         Approved locations for the termination of condensate disposal drains are as follows:
         1.   Into a fixture tailpiece with correct plumbing fitting, waste air gap or laundry tray with secondary drain.
         2.   Above finished grade outside of the building in an area that will absorb the condensate flow without ponding that could cause damage to building components.
         3.   Over roof drains that connect to drainage pipes provided they terminate at or above grade in an area capable of absorbing the condensate flow without surface drainage.
   CHAPTER 4 VENTILATION
   SECTION 401 GENERAL
      Section 401.4 Intake opening location. REVISE by ADDING a new exception to read as follows:
         Exception: Replacement of existing evaporative coolers where it is determined by the Building Official that the replacement does not constitute a hazard.
   SECTION 403 MECHANICAL VENTILATION
      Section 403.3.1.5 Balancing. This section is REVISED by DELETING the second sentence of this section and replacing it with the following:
         Ventilation systems shall be balanced by individuals holding current certification from the Associated Air Balance Council (AABC), the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) or other approved agencies.
   CHAPTER 5 EXHAUST SYSTEMS
   SECTION 504 CLOTHES DRYER EXHAUST
      Section 504.3 Cleanout. REVISE by ADDING the following to the end of the sentence:
         The flexible connection between a single dryer exhaust vent and riser shall be considered as an acceptable cleanout for the purposes of this section.
   CHAPTER 6 DUCT SYSTEMS
   SECTION 602 PLENUMS
      Section 602.2 Construction. This section is REVISED by ADDING the following after the first sentence of the paragraph:
         Plenum enclosures constructed of combustible materials shall be subject to the following requirements.
         1.   Sprinklers shall be installed within the plenum space in accordance with the International Fire Code and amendments.
         2.   Area smoke detectors shall be installed within the plenum space as per their listing.
         3.   Duct smoke detectors shall be installed in the return air system of all air moving equipment serving the plenum.
         4.   The area smoke detectors and duct smoke detectors shall shut down all air moving equipment serving the plenum whenever any detector detects smoke.
         5.   In occupancies not required to be equipped with a fire alarm system, actuation of any smoke detector shall activate a visible and audible signal in a location approved by the Building Official.
   CHAPTER 8 CHIMNEYS AND VENTS
   SECTION 802 VENTS
      Section 802.8 Insulation shield. REVISE by ADDING the following to the end of the paragraph:
         Where insulation is installed against the roof sheathing, the shield shall extend not less than 2 inches (51MM) below the bottom of the insulation.
   CHAPTER 10 BOILERS, WATER HEATERS AND PRESSURE VESSELS
   SECTION 1001 GENERAL
   Section 1004.1 Scope. REVISE this section as by DELETING Exception 7 in its entirety and REPLACING with the following:
      Any boiler or lined water heater in excess of 200,000 BTU/H shall be subject to federal and state inspections. See Arizona Boiler Rules for Regulations, Title 20, Chapter 5.
   SECTION 1004 BOILERS
      Section 1004.1 Standards. REVISE this section by DELETING all text after the second sentence and INSERTING the following:
         Boilers shall be designed and constructed in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, and the Arizona Boiler Rules, Title 20 Chapter 5.
