A. Building Official: The Building Official, or his or her duly authorized representative, is charged with the administration and enforcement of the Eloy Building Code. The Building Official may appoint and remove such deputies, inspectors and other related technical officers and other employees as shall be authorized by the Community Department Director and City Manager.
B. Records, Copies of Documents Concerning Building Work: The Building Official shall keep careful and comprehensive records of applications for permits, permits issued, of inspections made, or reports rendered and notices issued. The Building Official shall further retain on file copies of all documents in connection with building work for the minimum time period as required by this code. The City of Eloy records retention program, or for such time as he/she deems necessary.
C. Rules and Regulations: The Building Official may adopt such rules and regulations deemed necessary to secure the public health, safety and general welfare; to implement the provisions of this chapter and to carry out the intent of this chapter. All such rules and regulations shall require the approval of the City Manager and the Mayor and Council. No rules or regulations adopted pursuant to this section shall have the effect of waiving technical requirements specifically stipulated in the building codes or of violating accepted engineering practices involving public safety.
