4-9: CARE, MAINTENANCE AND DESTRUCTION OF IMPOUNDED ANIMALS:
   A.   Care And Maintenance: Any animal impounded in a City shelter shall be given proper and humane care and maintenance.
   B.   Method Of Destruction Of Animal: Any animal destroyed while in a City shelter shall be destroyed only by the methods approved by the current edition of the report of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
   C.   Destruction By Licensed Veterinarian: If an animal is destroyed by means specified in this section, such destruction shall be done by a licensed veterinarian, animal control officer, or in accordance with procedures established by the State Veterinarian. (Ord. 05-590, 5-23-2005)
