As used in this chapter:
"Fire zone" means the area designated as a fire zone pursuant to Section 353.02 in or upon any property located in a R-MF Multi-Family District or a R-MF-HR Multi-Family High-Rise District in the Zoning Code and on the Zoning Map on which one or more apartment buildings are located.
(Ord. 1971-66. Passed 3-23-71.)
The Director of Public Safety shall designate as fire zones those areas in and around each apartment building in the City which are necessary to provide access for fire-fighting equipment and apparatus and other public safety and emergency vehicles of the City in case of fire, explosion or other emergency. The Director of Public Safety shall give written notice of the designation of fire zones by certified mail to each owner of property on which one or more apartment buildings are located and such notice shall direct the owner and the person having charge of such property to post signs and establish such other markings as the Director may believe necessary to designate such zones clearly and distinctly pursuant to Section 353.03.
(Ord. 1971-66. Passed 3-23-71.)
Within thirty days after the receipt of a notice designating fire zones, the owner of property on which an apartment building or buildings are located or the person having charge thereof shall post such signs and establish such markings as are directed by the Director of Public Safety which shall clearly and distinctly indicate the designated fire zones and the prohibition of parking therein. The size, location and content of such signs and the nature and location of such markings shall be approved by the Chief of the Fire Division and the Chief of Police. No person shall fail to post such signs and establish such markings as required and within the time allowed by this section, unless the Director of Public Safety shall, in writing, extend the time for compliance for up to an additional thirty days for good cause shown. A separate offense shall be deemed committed each day during or on which failure to post signs and establish markings as required by this chapter continues.
(Ord. 1971-66. Passed 3-23-71.)
The Director of Public Safety, Chief of Police, Fire Chief or any member of the Police and Fire Divisions may provide for the removal of any vehicle found to be in violation of Section 353.04 to a garage or other place as he deems proper. Any costs incurred in removal and storage shall be paid for by the registered owner of the vehicle and such costs shall be in addition to any fine or penalty which may be imposed on the owner or operator of the vehicle.
