The roads adjoining the lake, commonly referred to as the "inlet" and "outlet" road, gate entrance to Zink Farm will be closed seasonally from November 15 to March 1 of each year. The gates may be closed at other times under the direction of the Public Works Director, if necessary for public safety. (Ord. 2032, 5-3-2011)
No person shall enter any area marked with no trespassing signs, including, but not limited to, that area south of the spillway for Lake Canton and north of the public highway running east and west south of Lake Canton; the dam, fields where biosolids have been applied and the Kilroy lift station.
No person shall move, mark, deface or destroy any sign placed on or around Lake Canton.
Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this section shall be subject to a fine not less than seventy five dollars ($75.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00). (Ord. 2032, 5-3-2011)
It shall be unlawful for any person to skate, slide, coast or otherwise play upon the ice of said lake, or attempt to use the ice for any purpose whatsoever, except on that part of the lake described as follows:
All of that part of the northeastern part of said Lake Canton lying east and north of a straight line drawn from a point on the west side of Youth Acres property and the most distant point south on said property, thence running northeasterly to a point on the tip of the projection of land extending out into the said lake, on the west and south side of Beecham's Bay;
which ice on said waters may be used for purposes herein set forth, at such times as the ice is of sufficient thickness to support people on said ice.
Any person convicted of any violation of this section shall be fined not less than five dollars ($5.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00). (Ord. 98, 1-7-1964)
Any person fishing in Lake Canton shall use a pole and line only, and any person who shall fish in said lake by any other method or any other manner shall be subject to a fine of not less than fifty dollars ($50.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) for each offense. (A) It shall be unlawful for any person to introduce into the body of water known as Canton Lake or any watercourse that flows, directly or indirectly, into said lake any of the following materials:
1. Sewage, treated or untreated;
2. Discharge from any privy, cesspool, septic tank or septic field;
3. Industrial waste;
4. Garbage, manure or putrescible material;
5. Human excrement or urine;
6. Poisonous substances;
7. Dirt, clay, rocks or other solid material;
8. Herbicide, pesticide or other chemicals;
9. Lawn waste including leaves;
10. Paint or paint remover;
11. Any substance that may render the water harmful to humans;
12. Any substance that may render the water harmful to animals.
(B) It shall be unlawful to deposit any of the substances listed in subsection (A) of this section where such materials may be washed into the lake or a watercourse flowing directly or indirectly into said lake. (Ord. 1385, 2-2-1993)
