912.2.3 Distance to Access and Water Supply. Fire department connections (FDC's) and associated outside alarm indicator shall be installed within 100 feet of an approved fire apparatus access lane and within 300 feet of a fire hydrant.

914.3.1.2 Water supply to required fire pumps. In all buildings that are more than 420 feet (128 m) in building height, and buildings of Type IV-A and IV-B construction that are more than 120 feet (36.6 m) in building height, required fire pumps shall be supplied by connections to not fewer than two water mains located in different streets. Separate supply piping shall be provided between each connection to the water main and the pumps. Each connection and the supply piping between the connection and the pumps shall be sized to supply the flow and pressure required for the pumps to operate.
Exception: Two connections to the same main shall be permitted provided that the main is valved such that an interruption can be isolated so that the water supply will continue without interruption through not fewer than one of the connections.

914.8.3.3 Use of Foam Systems in Aircraft Hangars
Only UL listed flourine-free foam shall be used for the installation or modification of a foam-water suppression system. Proper disposal shall be provided for the flourine foam being replaced as approved by the fire code official.

1101.1 Scope. The provisions of this chapter shall apply to existing buildings constructed prior to the adoption of this code, if in the opinion of the fire code official they constitute a distinct hazard to life or property.

Section 2007.6 Foam Protection. Add a paragraph to the end of 2007.6 to read as follows: Prior to the approval of any permit for the installation or modification of a foam-water suppression system, approval in writing shall be received from the fire code official. Approval shall only be permitted when in the opinion of the fire code official no reasonable alternative to these systems exist. Where permitted, mitigation measures shall be provided as approved by the fire code official.

3304.5 Fire Watch. Add a paragraph to the end of 3304.5 to read as follows:
Where approved by the fire code official, a fire watch may be used to permit the temporary occupancy of a building before it is completed or during demolition.

3304.9 Fire safety requirements for buildings of Types IV-A, IV-B and IV-C construction. Buildings of Types IV-A, IV-B and IV-C construction designed to be greater than six stories above grade plane shall comply with the following requirements during construction unless otherwise approved by the fire code official.
1. Standpipes shall be provided in accordance with Section 3314.
2. A water supply for fire department operations, as approved by the fire code official and the fire chief.
3. Where building construction exceeds six stories above grade plane and noncombustible protection is required by Section 602.4 of the International Building Code, at least one layer of noncombustible protection shall be installed on all building elements on floor levels, including mezzanines, more than four levels below active mass timber construction before additional floor levels can be erected.
Exception: Shafts and vertical exit enclosures shall not be considered part of the active mass timber construction.
4. Where building construction exceeds six stories above grade plane, required exterior wall coverings shall be installed on all floor levels, including mezzanines, more than four levels below active mass timber construction before additional floor levels can be erected.
Exception: Shafts and vertical exit enclosure shall not be considered part of the active mass timber construction.
