HARDSCAPE: Nonliving materials used to augment the beauty or naturalness of a landscaped area. Hardscape may include, but is not limited to: brick, stone, rock walls, fountains, ponds, pools, planters or retaining walls, but it excludes all forms of artificial and live vegetation.
LANDSCAPE ISLAND: Island which takes the place of a parking stall within a single linear row of parking.
LANDSCAPE POD/DIAMOND: Small, individual, unpaved areas within a parking lot incorporated to provide locations for vegetation thus increasing the aesthetic quality and microclimate of the parking area.
LINEAR ISLAND: Island located perpendicular to and dividing two (2) back to back linear rows of parking.
PROJECTION SIGNS: A sign attached to and projecting out from a building face or wall, generally at right angles to the building. Signs may not project above the building's roofline and may not project more than four feet (4') from the building.
TERMINAL ISLAND: Island located at the terminus end of all linear rows of parking. (Ord. 2047, 7-28-2014)
