All proposed ground signage requires approval of a sign permit issued by the city of West Des Moines through normal sign review procedures. Unless otherwise provided herein, signage shall abide by the standards and regulations as set forth in title 9, chapter 18, "Signs", of the city code for the residential medium density (RM) district.
A. Monument/Ground Sign:
1. One ground monument sign shall be allowed per parcel frontage that has access to a public street.
2. The sign structure shall generally not exceed six feet (6') in height; however, architectural elements shall be allowed to a maximum height of seven feet (7').
3. The development identification copy area shall not exceed thirty (30) square feet with the top edge of the copy area located no higher than six feet (6') from the ground.
4. Address indication shall be placed on the sign per the fire marshal's direction.
B. Building Directory Sign: Building directory signs shall be implemented interior to the development to assist in directing patrons and emergency response crews through the site. Size, design and location of said signs shall be worked out with the city's fire marshal.
