For the purpose of clarification within this ordinance, the following definitions shall apply:
BIOSWALE: A long, shallow, vegetated swale designed to retain and slowly filter, absorb, and evaporate, as well as convey, stormwater through dense vegetation comprised of wetland type grasses and other water tolerant plants, shrubs, and ornamental trees.
CENTRAL PARK: The area generally at the center of the site with special hardscape elements, wet ponds, trails, an amphitheater and other outdoor site furnishings and amenities to serve the employees.
DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT: The written agreement between Aviva USA and the city of West Des Moines dated February 11, 2008, which identifies the obligations of each party and the general design regulations and guidelines of the proposed Aviva USA West Des Moines campus.
HARDSCAPE: Nonliving materials used to augment the beauty or naturalness of a landscaped area. Hardscape may include, but is not limited to: brick, stone, rock walls, fountains, ponds, pools, planters or retaining walls, but it excludes all forms of artificial and live vegetation.
SPEED TABLE: A pedestrian crossing identified by a raised area of paving with special paving treatments that is located within the roadway and specifically designed to identify it as a pedestrian crossing and slow down vehicular traffic. Speed tables shall be designed to provide adequate clearance for large public safety vehicles. (Ord. 1810, 8-11-2008)
