A. The purposes of this chapter are to promote the cultural heritage and artistic development of the city, to enhance the city's character and identity, to contribute to economic development and tourism, to add warmth, dignity, beauty, and accessibility to public spaces and to expand the experience and participation of citizens with visual arts, by directing the inclusion of public arts in appropriate city capital improvement program projects.
B. The city council recognizes the importance of the creation, support, and maintenance of public arts. The city council shall fund the public arts program with a portion of hotel/motel funds as determined annually in the adoption of the final budget. The funds shall be used for artist design services and for the selection, acquisition, display, and maintenance of artworks. (Ord. 1903, 1-24-2011)
