A. Appointment And Term: A civil service commission consisting of three (3) members shall be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the council 1 . Following appointment of the initial commission according to law, one member shall be appointed after each regular municipal election to hold office for a term of four (4) years commencing the first Monday of April following such municipal election. In the event that a vacancy occurs in the membership of the commission by death, resignation or otherwise prior to the normal expiration of the appointee's term, the mayor, with the approval of the city council, shall appoint a person to serve out the remainder of the unexpired term. B. Compensation: Civil service commissioners shall serve without compensation. (1985 Code §1-1.0605)
