The provisions of this chapter shall be applicable to all businesses. A "business" is defined as any wholesale and retail businesses and all activities, occupational callings, trades, pursuits or professions that conduct business from a location within the City of Wendell with the object of gain, profit, benefit or advantage. Each business location shall be deemed a separate business unless it is a specific annex to the main location of the business. This chapter is not intended to repeal any license or franchise provisions of any other ordinance of the City of Wendell, nor is the license issued pursuant to this chapter to be considered a waiver of any other requirements of compliance with any federal, state or local laws. (Ord. 559-2024, 10-17-2024)
No person shall engage in any business within the City of Wendell for which licensing is required by this chapter, without having submitted a business license application (as hereinafter defined) to the City Clerk and receiving a license from the City of Wendell to operate the business ("business license") in accordance with the provisions of this chapter. The business license shall be in addition to any other requirements of this chapter or the other provisions of this chapter. A business license shall be valid for the remainder of the calendar year in which it is granted so long as the ownership, management, nature of the business or location of business remains unchanged or is not otherwise suspended or revoked as provided for herein.
