A board to be known as the gas fitters examining board shall be appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the city council. It shall consist of three (3) members selected from nominees recommended by an organized and generally recognized association of responsible firms or individuals engaged in the gas fitting or related pipe fitting industry, and who shall qualify as hereinafter prescribed. The members of the first board shall be appointed within sixty (60) days after the effective date hereof and shall serve for the following terms: one member for one year; one member for two (2) years; and one member for three (3) years. Thereafter, upon the expiration of each term, the board members shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years. All board members shall be subject to removal by the mayor, with the advice and consent of the city council, for malfeasance in office, neglect of duty or incapacity to serve.
