7-8-1: BEST PRACTICES OF WATER USE:
   (A)   The following minimum standards, considered the foundation of "best practices of water use", are encouraged and recommended by the city of Wendell:
      1.   Increase public awareness of the water supply situation and provide educational materials about best practice of water use.
      2.   Encourage the entire community to conserve water whenever possible.
      3.   Eating establishment, restaurant, hotel, cafe, cafeteria, etc., should not serve drinking water unless expressly requested by a patron and should display notice of such policy.
      4.   Hotels will provide notice of declared water conservation programs and encourage conservation practices.
      5.   All city facilities will limit use of potable water for the watering of landscape to three (3) days a week.
      6.   Vehicles should be washed only on scheduled watering day.
      7.   Landscape watering using potable water is restricted to the following schedule:
   Even numbered addresses: even number calendar days.
   Odd numbered addresses: odd number calendar days.
   Premises with no street address, such as a median: even number calendar days.
      8.   Watering will only be allowed on appropriate irrigation days before ten o'clock (10:00) A.M. or after five o'clock (5:00) P.M.
      9.   Outdoor landscape watering with a drip irrigation system or handheld container is allowed at any time.
      10.   Sprinkler systems must be maintained in a manner that promotes efficient watering and limits leaks or damage to the system that would allow flow of water beyond property lines.
      11.   Customers are encouraged to use irrigation water rather than potable water for watering landscape when and where available. (Ord. 491, 2-21-2008)
