7-4-8: SERVICE PIPE SPECIFICATIONS:
All service and other pipes used underground shall be of cast iron, steel or extra strong lead or tin lined lead (except private pipes where the use of special material may be authorized) laid not less than three feet (3') below the surface of the ground and of sufficient strength to stand the water pressure. All work upon the alteration or extension of water pipes and size of pipes shall be subject to the approval of the superintendent of the waterworks; and no extensions shall be made to another water user from the same service without a stopcock and meter being attached to the junction of such service pipe. No consumer shall be permitted to conduct water pipes across lots or through or under buildings to adjoining premises, but all service pipes shall enter the premises at a point nearest the water main.
