§ 52.16 REPORTS.
   (A)   The Board of Public Works shall report from time to time to the Board of Aldermen, whenever in the opinion of the Board, any new public hydrant or reservoir is needed by the city for protection against fire.

   (B)   Reports of the inspections provided for in division (A) above shall be made to the Board of Public Works and the Chief of the Fire Department immediately, setting forth the results of the inspection and these reports shall be kept on file and open for examination at any time.

§ 52.17 DUTY OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS PERTAINING TO FIRE PROTECTION.
   It shall be the duty of the Board of Public Works to see that all the public hydrants, wells and reservoirs are kept, at all times, in good condition and repair, and ready for use in case of fire, and to report to the Board of Aldermen any deficiency in the supply of water to any public hydrant.

§ 52.18 FASTENING OF ROPES OR THE LIKE TO HYDRANTS PROHIBITED.
   No person shall fasten any guy, rope, brace, support or fastening of any kind to any public hydrant.

§ 52.19 OBSTRUCTING HYDRANTS PROHIBITED.
   (A)   No person shall cover up or encumber any public hydrant, by placing on or about it any snow, ice, sleet, rubbish, building materials, but a sufficient space shall be left about every such hydrant to allow free access for fire engines and hose carriages.

   (B)   No person shall permit any vehicle, or any obstruction, to remain in front of or within a distance of ten feet of any public hydrant.

§ 52.20 INJURY TO HYDRANTS PROHIBITED.
   No person shall willfully break or injure or cause to be broken or injured any fire hydrant.

§ 52.21 UNLAWFUL OPENING OF HYDRANTS; WASTING WATER.
   No person shall open any fire hydrant except for some use by the Fire Department and under the direction of some proper officer of the Fire Department, or by special permission of the Board of Public Works or Superintendent of Water. No person shall wilfully and maliciously leave the water of any public hydrant running to waste.

§ 52.22 CONNECTIONS TO PRIVATE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS.
   (A)   All connections from city mains to fire systems on private property shall be provided with a gate valve and check valve to be installed either in the building accessible to inspection and repair or in a manhole of sufficient size to permit convenient access for inspection and repair.
   (B)   A bypass shall be connected around that gate valve which is installed on private property and shall be provided with a valve and meter.
   (C)   All material and labor shall be furnished by the owner of the property at his own expense.
   (D)   Construction, location and installation of all connections herein provided for shall be subject to the approval of the Bureau of Water.
