Dismissal, suspension, and discipline of employees in the classified service of the City, except in the Divisions of Police and Fire, shall be made by the Directors of the respective departments.
The Chiefs of the Police and Fire Divisions may prefer charges, dismiss, suspend, and discipline classified employees of their Division for the following reasons: neglect of duty, insubordination, conduct unbecoming an employee, malfeasance, nonfeasance, misfeasance, abuse of the leave policy of the City, physical incompetence, failure to maintain a high level of professional performance, and any other cause that may be established by Council as a uniform rule by ordinance or resolution.
The Chiefs of the Police and Fire Divisions shall be subject to the disciplinary authority of the Director of Administration.
