ARTICLE IX. MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS
Sec. 71. Conflict of interests­Financial interest in contracts, etc.
   No officer, agent or employee of the City shall have a financial interest, direct or indirect, in any contract with the City, or be financially interested, directly or indirectly, in the sale to the City of any land, materials, supplies, or services, except on behalf of the City as an officer or employee. Any willful violation of this section shall constitute malfeasance in office, and any officers or employees guilty thereof shall thereby forfeit their offices or positions. Any violation of this section shall render the contract involved voidable. (Props. 1 and 13, 5-5-90)
Sec. 72. Same­Accepting gratuities.
   No officer or employee of the City shall ever accept a gift, favor, privilege, or employment, directly or indirectly, that is inappropriate or of greater than nominal value from any individual, group, or business organization doing business with the City, during the term of office of such officer, or during such employment of such employee, except as may be authorized by law or ordinance. Any officer or employee of the City who shall violate the provisions of this section shall be subject to removal from office. If it is questionable as to whether a gift, favor, or privilege is inappropriate or of greater than nominal value, the question shall be referred to the Council for appropriate action, if any.
