5-503: LIMITS WITHIN WHICH THE BULK STORAGE OF LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GASES PERMITTED:
The bulk storage of liquefied petroleum gases shall be permitted in the following areas located outside the fire limits of the city:
   A.   Industrial Areas:
      1.   In industrial zoned areas, a liquefied petroleum gas permit issued by the city shall be required. This permit shall be obtained according to procedures prescribed in this chapter; and
      2.   Total storage capacity per site shall not exceed twenty thousand (20,000) gallons water capacity;
   B.   Commercial Areas:
      1.   In commercial zoned areas, a liquefied petroleum gas permit issued by the city shall be required. This permit shall be obtained according to procedure prescribed in this chapter; and
      2.   Total storage capacity per site shall not exceed two thousand (2,000) gallons water capacity;
   C.   Residential Areas:
      1.   In residential zoned areas, a liquefied petroleum gas bulk storage shall be permitted only if natural gas service is not available;
      2.   Where natural gas service is not available in residential areas, a liquefied petroleum gas bulk storage permit issued by the city shall be required. Such permit shall be obtained according to the procedures set forth in this chapter; and
      3.   Total storage capacity shall not exceed five hundred (500) water gallon capacity in residential zones. In residential mobile home districts where liquefied petroleum gas is stored and centrally distributed for mobile home park residents, total storage capacity shall not exceed two thousand (2,000) gallons water capacity per site; and
   D.   Agriculture Areas:
      1.   No permit shall be required for liquefied petroleum gas storage in agricultural zones for residential or agricultural uses; provided, that:
         a.   Total liquefied petroleum gas storage does not exceed two thousand (2,000) gallons water capacity; and
         b.   Storage containers shall not be placed within two hundred feet (200') from any existing property lines; and
      2.   A permit shall be required for installations which do not meet the above conditions and such permit shall be obtained according to the provisions in this chapter. (2000 Code § 5-503)
