6-1-1: TRAFFIC CODE ADOPTED:
Except insofar as the application thereof is clearly impractical or inappropriate, in view of the context of purposes or penalty as provided, all of the definitions, requirements, regulations, prohibitions, provisions and sections of the Illinois vehicle code, 625 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/1-100 et seq., as amended, are hereby adopted by the village. Any and all violations thereof shall be considered violations of this title. (Ord. 2010-1, 3-1-2010)
6-1-2: SPEED LIMIT:
No person shall drive or operate a motor vehicle upon any public street or alley in the village at a speed in excess of twenty (20) miles per hour.

6-1-6: PARKING AND LOADING RESTRICTIONS:
   A.   No Parking Streets: The following are designated no parking areas and no parking signs shall be placed at the appropriate locations:

   B.   Angle Parking On Certain Streets: It shall be unlawful for any person to leave any motor vehicle parked on Broadway Street between Nichols Street and the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway unless said vehicle is parked at the side of the street at an angle of about forty five degrees (45°) to the curb, the right side of the vehicle being nearest the curb.
   C.   Time Limit Parking: It shall be unlawful for any person to park a vehicle on the following streets for a period exceeding twenty four (24) continuous hours; provided, however, it shall be unlawful for any person engaged in a business in the village to park a vehicle on the following described portions of the streets in the village for a period exceeding five (5) successive hours:
Broadway Street between its intersection with the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad and the intersection of Broadway Street with Dixon Street.
Main Street between its intersection with Division Street and the intersection of Main Street with State Bond Issue Route 94.
Nichols Street and its intersection with Mary Street.
   D.   Parking Farm Vehicles And Vehicles With Excess Length: It shall be unlawful for any motor vehicle with an overall length, including load, exceeding twenty feet (20'), or any farm implement to be parked on the following streets in the village:
The portion of Broadway Street between the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad and the intersection of Broadway Street with Nichols Street.
   E.   Bus Loading And Student Drop Off/Pick Up Zones: The following are bus loading and student drop off/pick up zones in the village:
South Street: The south curb line of South Street in front of the school near the semicircle drive is a bus loading zone. The zone shall run approximately fifty five feet (55') west from the crosswalk and stop ten feet (10') east of the fire hydrant located on the corner of the semicircle drive. The student drop off/pick up zone shall run approximately one hundred forty feet (140') north of the crosswalk to the alley on the south curb line of South Street. (Ord. 2010-1, 3-1-2010)
   F.   Handicapped Parking Spaces:
      1.   The first two (2) available spaces south of the west driveway of Fisher's Food Center at approximately 109 South Broadway on the east side of Broadway Street in the village of Stronghurst is hereby designated as handicapped person parking only.
      2.   The parking space centered in front of the Antiquity at 113 South Broadway and Bygones & Buds at 115 South Broadway on the east side of Broadway Street in the village of Stronghurst is hereby designated as handicapped person parking only.
      3.   The village clerk is requested to notify the superintendent of streets of this designation, and the superintendent of streets shall thereupon place an appropriate sign at such locations, noting that such spaces are parking for a designated handicapped person or persons only. No person not possessing a village or state sticker or license authorizing them to park in handicapped person parking, properly affixed to their vehicle, shall park in such spaces.
      4.   Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any provisions of this subsection F shall be subject to punishment by a fine of seventy five dollars ($75.00). (Ord. 2007-0108, 1-8-2007; amd. Ord. 2010-1, 3-1-2010)
6-1-7: NO PARKING FROM HERE TO CORNER:

6-1-8: U-TURNS:
   A.   Vehicles crossing from one side of the street to the other shall do so by turning to left so as to head in the same direction as the traffic on that side of the street toward which the crossing is made, and when the street is congested with traffic, such vehicles shall go to the intersection before turning.
   B.   It shall be unlawful for any motor vehicle on Broadway Street in the village between Nichols Street and the right of way of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad to enter a parking area on the side of the street in the opposite lane without first entering an intersection and making a U-turn in order to reverse the direction of said vehicle. No vehicle shall enter a parking space adjacent to the opposite lane of traffic of said vehicle. For the purposes of this subsection, entry into a parking space by a vehicle on the side of the street opposite the lane of traffic of said vehicle shall be construed as an illegal turn. No vehicle shall back into an intersection.
   C.   U-turns shall be permitted at the following intersections:
      Main Street and Broadway Street.
      Nichols Street and Broadway Street.
      The right of way of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad on Broadway Street. (Ord. 2010-1, 3-1-2010)

6-1-10: RIDING ON, DRIVING ON, AND OBSTRUCTING SIDEWALKS:
No person shall lead, ride or drive or place any beast of burden or other animal or any vehicle on any sidewalk or footpath otherwise than in going into or out of premises owned by himself or his employer, nor in any manner injure or destroy or unnecessarily obstruct the same. 6-1-11: ENFORCEMENT:
Violations of this chapter may be enforced as outlined under the Illinois vehicle code or as a village ordinance citation for nonmoving violations only as outlined in the Illinois vehicle code. It shall be at the discretion of the arresting officer to enter the violation as an ordinance violation or as a violation of the Illinois vehicle code. Violations of this chapter will have a minimum fine of not less than fifty dollars ($50.00) for the first offense and may be increased in twenty five dollar ($25.00) increments for repeated violations. The violator may plead "guilty" for the issued ordinance violation and may pay the fine in person or by mail to the office of the village clerk by the "fines due date" as indicated on the ordinance citation. The violator may plead "not guilty" and request a court hearing to be scheduled at the Henderson County courthouse. Such requests shall be submitted by the "fines due date". At that time the violator shall be notified by mail of the scheduled court date. Pending disposition of the court's ruling, the violator shall be subject to the original fine and/or all court costs including all village attorney fees. (Ord. 2010-1, 3-1-2010)
