5-1-1: VILLAGE LAW ENFORCEMENT:
The president and board of trustees shall employ some suitable person to act as village law enforcement official or shall enter into an agreement with the county sheriff to provide for law enforcement within the village. Such law enforcement official or person employed by the county sheriff shall, in all respects, be authorized to perform all appropriate duties provided in the ordinances of the village. 5-1-2: DUTIES OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL:
   A.   It shall be the duty of the appropriate law enforcement official for the village to preserve the peace, order and safety of the village and to enforce the various ordinances of the village and to perform other duties and functions prescribed by the village president and board of trustees.
   B.   The appropriate law enforcement official for the village shall take notice of all nuisances and obstructions and defects in the streets, alleys, avenues, and public places of the village and report the same to the president and board of trustees. (1993 Code p. 30 § 401.6)
   C.   The appropriate law enforcement official for the village shall execute all writs of process issued to him for service. He shall report all violations of ordinances to the president and board of trustees. He shall arrest, without warrant, any person who may be found violating any ordinances of the village.
