135.01 DATABASE OF REGISTERED SEX OFFENDERS.
   (a)   The Safety Director is directed to establish and maintain a database on each person who has been classified as a habitual sex offender, sexual predator, sexually oriented offender, or any other similar classification, and is required to register under Ohio R.C. Chapter 2950, residing within the City of Streetsboro, containing background information regarding their offense as is available through public records, and make such database(s) available for public view in a format and media readily accessible to the public, as determined by the Safety Director.
   (b)   The Police Chief is directed to assist the Safety Director in establishing and maintaining such database(s) and determining which public records are to be obtained and displayed as required in subsection (a) hereof.
   (c)   As used in this section:
      (1)   The terms “habitual sex offender,” “sexual predator,” and “sexually oriented offender” have the same meaning as such terms used in Ohio R.C. Chapter 2950; and
      (2)   The term “other similar classification” means each person, other than listed in subsection (c)(1) above, who is required to register under Ohio R.C. Chapter 2950.
      (3)   The term “public record” means a record available to the public under the Ohio Public Records Law, Ohio R.C. 149.43, as determined by the Law Director.
   (d)   Before any public record under this section is placed into any database for public view, the Law Director shall examine such record and certify in writing to the Safety Director that it is a “public record”as that term is used in Ohio R.C. 149.43, and thereafter the Safety Director shall determine which such records are appropriate for public dissemination in a database.
