5.72.165: CONTRACT BASED SYSTEM FOR PROVISION OF TAXI SERVICES:
   A.   The city hereby adopts a contract based system for provision of taxicab services. Only taxicab providers selected pursuant to a competitive request for proposals (RFP) process and who have entered into a "department contract", as defined in section 5.72.005 of this chapter, may operate taxicab services upon Salt Lake City streets.
   B.   The mayor shall determine the number of taxicab businesses that shall be awarded a department contract.
   C.   The mayor shall determine the total number of taxicabs authorized to operate in the city under all such contracts. (Ord. 67-14, 2014)
