If the finder or true owner does not claim unclaimed property, pursuant to section 2.10.120 or 2.10.130 of this chapter, the city may appropriate the item for public interest use, as provided in section 2.10.150 of this chapter; destroy the property in appropriate circumstances; or sell the item by competitive sealed bid or at a public auction, with the proceeds being made available for a public interest use.
