A. Leave of absence for employees who enter uniformed service. An employee who enters the service of a uniformed service of the United States, including the United States Army, United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Air Force, commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, United States Coast Guard, or the commissioned corps of the Public Health Service, shall be entitled to be absent from his or her duties and service from the city, without pay, as required by state and federal law. Leave shall be granted for no more than five cumulative years, consistent with the federal Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act.
B. Leave while on duty with the armed forces or Utah National Guard. An employee who is or who becomes a member of the reserves of the federal armed forces, including United States Army, United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Air Force, and the United States Coast Guard, or any unit of the Utah National Guard, shall be allowed military leave for up to 11 working days per calendar year for time spent on active or reserve duty. Military leave may be in addition to vacation leave and need not be consecutive days of service. To be covered, an employee must provide documentation to the city demonstrating a duty requirement.
