§ 9-6101. Persons Engaged in the Business of Salvaging, Dismantling, Recycling, or Repairing Motor Vehicles or Motor Vehicle Parts. 1272
   (1)   Required Documentation. A person engaged in the business of salvaging, dismantling, recycling, or repairing motor vehicles or motor vehicle parts, shall obtain the following documentation related to the vehicle and/or parts and the provider of such vehicles and/or parts:
      (a)   the providers name, address, thumbprint, telephone number, and a photocopy of a government-issued identification of the provider; and
      (b)   a copy of the title to the vehicle and other documentation indicating the make, model, vehicle identification number, date of purchase, description of the motor vehicle and/or motor vehicle part, including a description of the motor vehicle from which the part was obtained.
   (2)   Duration of Retention. Persons engaged in the business of salvaging, dismantling, recycling, or repairing motor vehicles or motor vehicle parts shall retain the required documentation for a period of not less than two years.
   (3)   Prohibition on Sale of Partial Catalytic Converters. It shall be unlawful to sell or purchase any catalytic converter or catalytic converter parts without the required documentation.
