§ 9-102. Notice to Incumbent.  174.2
   As soon as the board having jurisdiction over elections in the City has accepted a recall petition for filing, the chair of the board shall notify the incumbent named in the petition that the petition has been filed. Upon receipt of such notice the incumbent may resign from the incumbent's office and thereupon the recall proceedings shall terminate.

   Purposes:   An incumbent against whom a recall petition is directed may resign from office. In that event a recall election is unnecessary. See also Section 9-103(1).
