WATER SYSTEM
For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
ACQUIRED. Includes acquisition by purchase, construction or by any other method.
COUNCIL. The Council of said village, the legislative and governing body thereof.
PROJECT. The water supply system to be acquired pursuant to this subchapter
REVENUES and NET REVENUES. As defined in § 3 of Public Act 94 of 1933, being M.C.L.A. §§ 141.101 through 141.140, as now amended.
SYSTEM. Refers to the water supply system of the village.
VILLAGE. The Village of Pewamo.
WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM. Includes all plants, works, instrumentalities and properties (as the same shall from time to time exist), used or useful in connection with the obtaining of a water supply, the treatment of water and/or distribution of water, by the village.

(A) All structures (i.e., each house, apartment complex, school, church and business) shall have a village approved meter installed.
(B) Service is to be copper, brass or copper fittings only, isolation valve is to be a quarter turn, brass ball valve.
(C) Service to be inspected by DPW before burial.
(D) The village will provide one standard 5/8" meter per address. If additional meters are requested, it is at the property owner's expense.
(E) Owner is responsible to have a licensed plumber install meter, with DPW inspection to follow.
(F) Owner shall have and approved shut off valve on both sides of meter.
(G) Any service larger than one-inch must be plumbed with bypass and all necessary valves.
(H) All meters will be mounted horizontally for all services.
(I) If a dwelling or business has a finished basement, or a unit requires transmitting wire to be concealed, it will be the owner's responsibility to install wire.
(J) If meter is located in a mechanical room with an electrical meter, it will be the discretion of the Water Department to determine whether a remote reader will be required.
(K) The village will maintain all meters and remotes after original installation.
(L) If a meter cannot be repaired or maintained, the village will furnish a replacement meter and/or remote.
(M) Remote reader will be installed on all replacement meters, with the installation of remote wire subject to provision as outlined in divisions (I) and (J) of this section.
(N) If a meter or remote is damaged due to owner negligence, the owner will be responsible for all repair or replacement costs.
(O) If meter or remote is tampered with or removed, the village may estimate water loss and bill the owner for the amount based on past meter history.
(P) Owner must provide access to meter and remote for maintenance and/or replacement. If access is not provided within two weeks of the village’s request, the village reserves the right to cease water service.
(Q) In the event that there are two meters at an address, the Ready to Serve Rate for water will be charged on the larger of the two meters installed. Usage will be charged on both meters.
(R) Irrigation meters added to a metered dwelling will not be assessed Ready to Serve charges to water or sewer, but will be charged for water usage only.
(S) Multiple dwellings such as apartments will be provided one meter and remote reader. If additional meters are requested, it is at the property owner's expense.
(1) Ready to Serve Rates of both water and sewer will be charged for each unit, whether they are metered individually or not.
(2) All metered usage will also be billed according to village practice.
(3) Water shut off policy for active duty military personnel.
(a) Fees for water shut off and turn on, monthly Ready to Serve for water and sewer services will be waived for military personnel if they are the property/homeowners only.
(b) Waived fees apply only if military personnel are called into active duty for a period of six months or more.
