The Code Enforcement Officer shall have the power to order all work stopped on the construction, alteration, or repair of any building or structure in the village when such work is being done in violation of any provision of any ordinance relating thereto, or in violation of the Zoning Code, Work shall not be resumed after the issuance of such an order except on the written permission of the Zoning Administrator or his designee or by order of the Village President; provided that if the stop order is an oral one, it shall be followed by a written stop order within two hours. Such written stop orders may be served by any police officer, and may be served by posting on the premises affected in the absence of personal service.

The Code Enforcement Officer shall have the power to make or cause to be made entry into any building or premises where the work of altering, repairing or constructing any building or structure is going on for the purpose of making inspection at any reasonable hour.

The Code Enforcement Officer shall have authority as necessary in the interest of public health, safety and general welfare, to interpret and implement the provisions of Title XV of this Code, to secure the intent thereof; and to designate requirements applicable because of local climatic or other conditions. Such requirements shall not have the effect of waiving structural or fire performance requirements specifically provided for in this Code or of violating accepted engineering practice involving public safety.
