ARTICLE I. SURFACE MINING
This chapter establishes regulations for surface mining operations in accordance with the requirements of the Surface Mining and Reclamation Act of 1975 (“SMARA”), the regulations adopted thereunder, and Cal. Pub. Res. Code, Section 2207. These regulations shall secure the continued availability of important mineral resources while also ensuring that adverse environmental effects are prevented or mitigated and mined lands are reclaimed to a usable condition readily adaptable for alternative land uses.
